EUGENE UPOROV
Eugene is a founder of Plant The Idea. He is apprentice by Shipibo-Konibo healing tradition (Peru), jungle explorer and plant medicine facilitator.
“My name is Eugene Uporov, and, besides many things, I am a passionate jungle traveler. For myself, I discovered jungle indigenous cultures and enormous healing potential of the Amazon about 5 years ago. Since then, I travelled a lot in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil learning the healing traditions of the local people, healing songs, languages, getting know communities and people in them.
Without any loud words, I can say that the plant medicine, namely ayahuasca, chakruna, and Noya Rao, saved my life. The jungle medicine cured my problems with my family, improved my health, cured addictions, opened me to myself, taught me Love, showed me the magic around me. And so much more… One of the most important gift that the jungle medicine give to me and my partner is our beautiful son Seibo. I cannot be more grateful for all these wonders.
In the same time in Latin America I have seen many things that disappointed me. And above of all, it is the commercialization of this experience, and a bunch of spiritual retreats orchestrated by the westerns. When I first came to Peruvian Amazon, to the very expensive retreat center I was told that we were not allowed to communicate with the healers (maestros) directly. ‘They are too different’ I was told.
Since the time passed, I may say that I cannot disagree more.
After all travels I came to understanding that we all need to learn from indigenous culture. But we are not too different. We may not hide ourselves behind the walls of the retreat centers. We can go directly to the maestros, staying with them, learning from them, and heal ourselves. Directly, but still in safe and trustful environment.
I founded my own project – Plant The Idea. We travel to the indigenous communities to learn and to heal. We support the communities directly approaching them and have chance to get a true experience without bullshit.
In Plant The Idea, we never approach our healers as ‘employees’, nor our participants as their ‘clients’. Instead, we see the shamans as teachers, who, even without formal Western education, carry the knowledge of the ancient traditions of healing. We are guests who come to their house, and they are hospitable hosts.
Plant The Idea journeys are foundations of great friendship - between the healers and their families and us.
I am so happy that Plant The Idea grows. In 2022 we had 5 journeys to different places of Peru, and received wonderful testimonials from our participants.
I invite you to join the movement and embark on the journey".
