Who We are

“Ancient technic of healing and awareness is a gamechanger in quality of life, finding your purpose, health and well-being. Westerners have been colonized that experience. We must return to roots”.

Eugene Uporov, founder of Plant The Idea

Plant The Idea © is an indigenous-center healing project in Latin America. We do not work with the sacred plants in a hotel-like environment and prefer go directly in the indigenous villages, tribes, communities. We work with that kind of sacred plants, as ayahuasca, san pedro, kambo and many more.
We do not mix traditions, as we do not belong to new-age movement. We believe every respectful ancient tradition of healing with sacred plants is sufficient and does not need to be modified. We practice the medicine exactly as our ancestors did that. That approach give us the best results.

We believe that ancient traditions of healing can transform both human and humanity in general. We are lucky that the these traditions of healing are still alive.

EUGENE UPOROV

Eugene is a founder of Plant The Idea. He is apprentice by Shipibo-Konibo healing tradition (Peru), jungle explorer and plant medicine facilitator.

“My name is Eugene Uporov, and, besides many things, I am a passionate jungle traveler. For myself, I discovered jungle indigenous cultures and enormous healing potential of the Amazon about 5 years ago. Since then, I travelled a lot in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil learning the healing traditions of the local people, healing songs, languages, getting know communities and people in them.

Without any loud words, I can say that the plant medicine, namely ayahuasca, chakruna, and Noya Rao, saved my life. The jungle medicine cured my problems with my family, improved my health, cured addictions, opened me to myself, taught me Love, showed me the magic around me. And so much more… One of the most important gift that the jungle medicine give to me and my partner is our beautiful son Seibo. I cannot be more grateful for all these wonders.

In the same time in Latin America I have seen many things that disappointed me. And above of all, it is the commercialization of this experience, and a bunch of spiritual retreats orchestrated by the westerns. When I first came to Peruvian Amazon, to the very expensive retreat center I was told that we were not allowed to communicate with the healers (maestros) directly. ‘They are too different’ I was told.

Since the time passed, I may say that I cannot disagree more.

After all travels I came to understanding that we all need to learn from indigenous culture. But we are not too different. We may not hide ourselves behind the walls of the retreat centers. We can go directly to the maestros, staying with them, learning from them, and heal ourselves. Directly, but still in safe and trustful environment.

I founded my own project – Plant The Idea. We travel to the indigenous communities to learn and to heal. We support the communities directly approaching them and have chance to get a true experience without bullshit.

In Plant The Idea, we never approach our healers as ‘employees’, nor our participants as their ‘clients’. Instead, we see the shamans as teachers, who, even without formal Western education, carry the knowledge of the ancient traditions of healing. We are guests who come to their house, and they are hospitable hosts.

Plant The Idea journeys are foundations of great friendship - between the healers and their families and us.

I am so happy that Plant The Idea grows. In 2022 we had 5 journeys to different places of Peru, and received wonderful testimonials from our participants.

I invite you to join the movement and embark on the journey".

Eugene lives and works in Peru with his family.

"Instead of embarking on overpriced Ayahuasca retreats that are hosted in massive facilities, with 30-100 strangers in a room together, and intermixing lineage practices, Eugene and his deep personal relationship with the Shipibo Shamans (those whom practice the cleanest version of ayahuasca brewing) provides a truly authentic and intimate experience for those who are willing to brave their fears and face their shadows".
"Eugene is super knowledgeable about Shipibo-Konibo tradition and explained it thoroughly".

MATTI DE BRUYNE

Matti is a plant medicine facilitator, photographer, apprentice by Shipibo-Konibo healing tradition (Peru).

"I was born and raised in Belgium, had a "normal" life, but could feel deep inside of me that something was missing. The curiosity to explore other realms of consciousness was often triggered by psychedelic experiences, but without proper guidance you remain on the surface.
Around my 30s I could feel the call to explore the world, I travelled all around but my soul was calling me to the Americas again. A journey that began in Mexico and ended in Peru brought me to several indigenous communities, many teachings were shown to me and I learnt a lot, but the true calling came when I met my Shipibo family.
Together with Ayahuasca and Dieta I was taken on a profound path, addictive patterns in my life were healed, some of which I had been struggling with for more than a decade.
These people are the surgeons of the jungle, together with the plants they search for the root of the problem and cure it".

Our Approach and Mission
Research indicates that for many people, ayahuasca is one of the most powerful experiences in life, a momentous event that heralds a new chapter in life. There is a clear before and after. This is precisely why this experience should never be taken lightly, even if it is not one’s first experience with the medicine.

We do not believe there is an easy way to solve complex problems. So we do not promise an easy way. Without work, the right people, and the right method, you can't solve any problem.

We believe that you are the point from which healing begins. You are the starting point for the healing of the world –the first necessary link where the work is to take place. Ultimately, it is your job.

‘Master Plants’, or Plants of Power - despite the fact that they are called that - do not give any power on their own. It is your own effort that brings about true transformation. This is a universal law that works everywhere. Even in the Amazon jungle.

And all the successes that come from this work - for you, your family, your environment, the world - these are the successes that you achieve.

The good news is that you don't have to do this work alone. And we are here to help.
